It captures glimpses of the beauty of heaven. March 8, 2013
The visuals in the book really help to show what parts of heaven look like, making heaven feel more tangible, especially to children.

Perfect for kids since it is complete with illustrations November 20, 2012
Heaven is for Real for Kids: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back byTodd & Sonja Burpo was published by Thomas Nelson. I first heard about this book from a kid who is looking for a copy of it in a bookstore. The cover is really cute and is really designed for kids. But when I saw the price, wow! It’s quite expensive, and I believe that expensive books are mostly the best-sellers. It was said to be a true story of a 4-year-old kid who had a glimpse of heaven when he was severely sick at that time. And when I saw that this was one of the books available for me to review from Booksneeze, I gladly grabbed a hold of it. Actually, I was looking for the adult version of this, but suddenly, only the kids edition was available.
Heaven is for real, and you are going to like it!
Colton Burpo came back from his trip to heaven with a very important message: Jesus really, really loves children. In effort to reach even more families with this eternally significant story, this runaway bestseller is now told from Colton—kid to kids! Children will receive the same comfort and assurance that so many adults have received from the trade book.
Beautifully illustrated, under Colton’s direction, this book is uniquely written from a child for a child. Colton tells of his experiences in first person and comments on things that will be important to kids. A letter to parents is included to guide them in talking to their children about heaven. Scripture along with Q&A section with answers from the Bible are also included in the book.
Honestly, since I was a kid, my question is “Can I really see Heaven and go back here on Earth?”. I really didn’t know the answer to that, not until I read this book. I loved the fact that aside from the verses from the Bible, there is also a portion in the book where Questions Kids Ask about Heaven is Real is dealt with and to my surprise, it includes an answer to my question.
The book mentioned that the answer is: “Yes! God has allowed some people to see into heaven briefly. The Bible says isaiah, Daniel and the apostle John were all shown parts of heaven. The apostle Paul also talks about a man who visited the “third heaven,” by he gives no name.”
There was a portion in the book when Colton met his older sister in heaven. The sister she never knew he had. I had this one more question in mind, “Do you really get to know the people in Heaven?”. I mean, through out my Christian journey, I thought that when you go to Heaven, everything will be new. Even your memory. Why have I said that? For instance, think of a dead girl who was victimized by rape. Can she still remember who did that to her? Colton’s sister remembered him. So the book is saying you can still retain your memory. Which I think contradicts what Revelation says, that in Heaven, there will be no tears, no pain, no grief. Don’t you think that the raped girl will feel hatred towards that man who raped her, assuming she went to Heaven? Maybe, I’ll need to study more about that aspect.
Now, just like what I have said earlier, I’m not saying I’m totally believing Colton’s experience being true. But given that each illustrated page came with a verse supporting Colton’s account and remembrance of what heaven was like, maybe I’m good with that. The kid’s claims seem to support what the Bible says. But, I believe that in case their claims are false, then they’re accountable to God for for what they have said and done.
Meanwhile, this book is perfect for kids since it is complete with illustrations, drawn by Wilson Ong but guided by Colton. Verses from the Scripture are also included to compare with the things that Colton said that he saw while in Heaven. Plus, the printing of words are big enough to be read easily without much stress on the eyes. I am going to share this book with some of the church member and think all GOD’s children should have at least understand this book!
But, one worry that crops up when I was reading through is the possibility that some children might be looking forward to actually dying (which can be bad) just so they can arrive at this beautiful place described. So, it would be important for parents to guide the thoughts of the kids and explain things to them while reading this book. Guidance is definitely required.
I am really thankful to Thomas Nelson for this wonderful privilege of having a copy and being able to review this New York Times bestselling book, Heaven is for Real for Kids by Todd and Sonja Burpo. Thank you, also, to Booksneeze!

Unforgetable Book May 10, 2012
When my son was in the hospital for almost two weeks already when my sister came from San Francisco to visit us. She stayed in the hospital with him when I needed to go to work. She was reading this this book at that time and when she finished she insisted that I should read it. I learned so much from this book. I was feeling so down because my son was not getting any better. I prayed and said a novena every night and I felt that God was not hearing my prayers. I felt so alone. After reading this book I posted a message on my facebook wall about my son's condition and I asked everybody to pray for him. Just like pastor Burpo he when he asked his church congregation to pray for his little boy. Now I believe that prayers are heard better when more people pray for it. My son got better after 21 days in the hospital and I know that the medication and a lot of prayers helped him through it.Thank you so much to the Burpo family for sharing their story. The book brings so much hope and inspiration to a lot of people. I love the Jesus photo. Thank you for including that in the book.

This book brings such a comfort to me reaffirming my faith in Christ. You just know that a child would not/could not make these things up! What a wonderful read for all ages.
