Listen to the Holy Spirit February 17, 2014
I have read this book and I have loved it. I sincerely believed it was a great source to strengthen my walk with Jesus and I even purchased it for friends. So 2 years later, as I am getting a copy for my car so my son and I can use it as a devotional on the way to school, something is not right in my soul. I felt spirit led to press into the truth and value of Jesus Calling. Please speak with God about this book. There are many resources both for and against this devotional and many Scripture references that may give you pause - please talk with God about it! Much love to all in The precious name of Jesus!

clashed with my spirit January 17, 2014
I have to agree with Rachel and B.A.C.. I do not see this as anything but potentially dangerous. In Deuteronomy 18:20 ” But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death.” and in Jeremiah 1 etc... god makes it plain that there are consequences to setting yourself up as a prophet.
yes, most will disagree with me and say that i am being legalistic but the Bible says it is the word of God... not anything else...

God speaks in many ways. March 19, 2013
Jesus talks to people. He talked to Moses, He talked to David, He talked to Sarah. No, this is not the Bible but it is something personal to us from Him through her. If God tells your friend or pastor something inspiring to tell you; just because it is coming from your friend's mouth doesn't mean it's not from God. Just because it is not in the Bible, does not mean it is not from God. God speaks in MANY ways. This daily devotional was given to me by a dear friend and has soften my heart to remember my dependence on Him. It even has references from the Bible. Thank you Jesus for speaking through Sarah.

Tremendously encouraging book!! January 1, 2013
I feel sorry for the persons who thinks this book is cult like. Nothing could be farther from the truth. God does talk to people and this is where her perspective comes from. I took a missionary trip to Hong Kong this time last year, and was around missionary's whose every minute depends on God. I think these are wonderful conversations with God and I thank Sarah for writing a book that is easy to pick up and hard to put down. I appreciate the fact that she includes scripture with every conversation...it just confirms who she was talking to. I think the last thing Satan wants is for us to be encouraged and read scripture. The book is full of both!!!

Re:Disgusted that someone would dare to write for God November 28, 2012
I see that you put yourself as a born-again Christian that wrote the last review...have you read this book every day?! Most people who like to add their views & thoughts into other lives or the Bible is reading toooo much into their lives. I was given this book to me 6 years ago I have worn it out & then as a graduation present from my CHURCH, that would be Assembly of God church just making sure you don't think it's from a cult, I unexpectedly given a newer version. So unless you're receiving a "word" of encouragement each time you read the daily, you haven't read an entire year. The author doesn't come across as God & nor does she say she is. She gives us words that help us & if The Lord gave her those words then she has every right to write them! My mom was saved in a Billy Graham Crusade back in 1955! She believes this book has helped more people with their daily lives than a lot of books others can't get into...even I myself asked her about it & she didn't feel there was anything wrong...unless there are uptight Christians like yourself & feel they know everything. Yes you have every right to give a review but when you can say I read thru this book each day...please don't give a review because you believe it's a cult. I've given more of this book to baby Christians & all I hear is "Thank you Jesus" not the authors name...

Disgusted that Someone Would Dare to Write for God November 24, 2012
A friend of the author gave my mother a copy of Jesus Calling. My mom in turn gave it to me to look at because she had a "funny feeling" about it. I was shocked and dismayed to see that someone had actually dared to write a book "as if Jesus/God were talking to you." Folks, this is what the Bible is!! There is no need to expand upon this; in fact, the Apostle John gives a dire warning about this in the Book of Revelation. I am saddened to see Thomas Nelson published this and that it has been incorporated into a Jesus Calling Bible. This is not Scripture. This is not divinely inspired. Only the Word of God -- the Bible -- is. True believers should be outraged by this. It is NOT ok to write as if you are God. Who has the audacity to do such a thing?? It does not matter if you get a warm and fuzzy from this book. Many cult books will leave you feeling that way. Only the Word of God has the power to save, exhort and teach. I would strongly advise Thomas Nelson to stop promoting such heresy.

I have some serious concerns May 24, 2012
I admit up front I have not read this entire devotional, but I have read enough to know that I will not be giving this to anyone. I try to make a habit of being still before God when I pray, and I often find that the things He impresses on my heart during those moments of quietness are sins that I have not confessed. I'm sorry, but I feel that Young has done a "cut and paste" job on the Scripture and then I see many people who are using this devotional as a Bible. It is a very slippery slope. I know most will disagree, but I can't remain silent.

Powerful April 23, 2012
God has worked through Sarah Young in a Mighty way. This devotional is unlike any other--it's truly as if God is speaking to you. I'm not saying this because the daily devotions are in first-person (where I = God speaking), I say this because often the Spirit of the Living God has moved through this devotional. The passages are so relevant to what I am going through personally. It's very rare that the passages aren't applicable to what I'm going through. Even if they're not right on target, I can ALWAYS gain SOMETHING from the passage. They are very inspirational and have help me to notice God in my life--every day. I also have the "Jesus Calling Devotional Bible," also right on point and VERY VERY powerful. I dare you to try it! I listen to the audio devotional in the mornings and read the others with my Bible. I've recently purchased "Jesus Lives" -- so worth it!! God is soooo Good!

That's what I have found myself calling them! Everyday I eagerly look forward to seeing what God had to say to me! The beautiful thing is He always knows just what to say and knows when I need it the most. I find myself also looking for guidance thru these passages..I know it will be there.. Incredible March 22, 2012
I am in a hard place of transition right now and was referred to this book by a person I met on a plane. I finally found the name of the devotional he suggested and purchased it. What can I say, God is awesome, he knows what we have need of before we ask. This book has met me every day at the point of my need through the daily devotions. I read my Bible and pray and for some reason, " gotta be LOVE", the Father has chosen to speak to me through these daily devotionals. I am awed, humbled and feel greatly beloved by the Father. I thank God for Sarah Young and her allowing the Lord to use her and share with others through this medium.

After many years of writing her own words in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to be more attentive to the Savior's voice and begin listening for what He was saying. So with pen in hand, she embarked on a journey that forever changed her—and many others around the world.
In these powerful pages are the words and Scriptures Jesus lovingly laid on her heart. Words of reassurance, comfort, and hope. Words that have made her increasingly aware of His presence and allowed her to enjoy His peace.
Jesus is calling out to you in the same way. Maybe you share the author’s need for a great sense of “God with you”. Or perhaps Jesus seems distant without you knowing why. Or maybe you have wandered farther from Him that you ever imagined you would. Here is a year’s worth of daily readings from Young’s journals to bring you closer to Christ and move your time with Him from monologue to a dialogue.
Each day is written as if Jesus Himself were speaking to you. Because He is. Do you hear Him calling?
