Wisdom Meets Passion by Dan Miller & Jared Angaza September 8, 2012
If there is one book that has had an effect on me in the past year, Wisdom Meets Passion would be it. When I initially decided to read this book, I really expected that it would be dry and boring. Nothing could be further from the truth. From the very first chapter, I was intrigued. This book is about finding and then reaching for your dreams. That was what stood out to me. I have always believed that if you want your dream bad enough you have to work at it. Dan Miller and his son, Jared Angaza, both backed up my belief in this book. In this book, they go over principles for finding your passion and, with wisdom, working toward your dreams. They also share stories of how they and others have used those same principles, wisdom, and passion to successfully reach for and attain their own dreams.
What I liked most about this book is that it didn’t say “if you do this, then you will have a good life, make lots of money, and everything will come up roses.” Instead, it took a realistic view of reaching for your dreams. The authors challenge the reader to look within him/herself (and to God), find his/her passion, and then work toward reaching his/her dream. They challenge the reader to stop making excuses and allowing fears to keep him/her from moving, and to start taking one step at a time. Another thing I like is that the book is so easy to follow and read. It’s interesting, without being “over the top” and the principles and ideas that are given are things that anyone would be able to do, if he/she is willing. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a dream that they have not yet tried to attain. The stories and principles in this book show that with hard work and a little ingenuity, dreams CAN come true.

Today we face a unique dichotomy between the wisdom of the Baby Boomer generation and the passion of Generation Y. According to Wisdom Meets Passion, the question is not which is right, but rather how can the two work together?
Wisdom, meet passion. Passion, wisdom.
By bringing these two voices to the issue, this book takes readers through familiar plights, such as understanding the American Dream, the quest for security, and work that matters—regardless of age. Through candid storytelling, Dan Miller and Jared Angaza uncover various generational approaches to work, money, success, and relationships, proving that it is possible to be both passionate and wise.
