A totally burned-out young preacher reignites his faith and gathers wisdom for life while spending successive Mondays with an eighty-three-year-old pastor.

"Deep inside in some uncertain part of my soul persisted this strange exhaustion that was difficult to explain and hard to endure," writes pastor and author José Luis Navajo. Thinking of quitting the ministry, Navajo doesn't know where to turn until he begins meeting with a seasoned man of the cloth—his "old pastor"—who, through successive Monday visits, offers a legacy of wisdom in the form of 15 unique principles.

In lyrical prose, Navajo shares the personal anecdotes, fables, and deep spiritual insights offered by the old pastor and his wife. By turns funny, heartbreaking, and thought provoking, Mondays with My Old Pastor is a comfort to anyone who struggles in his or her walk with God. As readers follow Navajo's journey from desperation to rejuvenation, they will find themselves similarly transformed and inspired. This moving, beautifully written account is sure to reignite every soul's longing for renewal.

Monday’s With my Old Pastor follows the life of a younger church leader who is burnt out, stressed and has lost his connection with God. This is a powerful true story of the author Jose. In today’s world we are becoming more physically and spiritually drained in our workplaces, the same draining happens within our churches and with our clergy. The young pastor seeks out a mentor from his past an 83 year old pastor who had helped him along the path to ministry.

Reading through Jose’ story I began to reflect on who had helped me along the way and what advice they had given to me. This book touched my heart and I expect has touched the hearts of many who have read it. I found myself reflecting on the advice I had received over the years and what would have happened if I had always taken the good advice that was given.

If you like true stories, if someone has ever influenced you in your career and you have lost touch with them, this would be a great book for you.

This is a book review of Mondays with My Old Pastor by Jose Luis Navajo

Concerning this book, Andy Andrews wrote: "Every now and then I come across a book I can't get out my head, Mondays with My Old Pastor is one of those books. I guarantee you'll be thinking about it long after you put it down." With a recommendation like that, which was written from an author like Andrews, you can almost be assured that the book is going to be phenomenal . . . And, this book didn't let me down. Mondays with My Old Pastor is about Jose, who was having thoughts of quitting the ministry and was even having struggles with his faith, so he decides to turn to his "old pastor," a seasoned, elderly minister who has "been there" and "done that." The book flows and unfolds beautifully and offers tremendous inspiration.

As a minister, this book was very appealing to me, because to be honest, I would say that every minister has at one time had thoughts of quitting, and likewise, every believer has at one time had thoughts of giving up their faith. The book is inspiring and will equip ministers with the insight and encouragement that they need to not give up. I recommend this book to every layman, and especially every minister. This won't be a waste of time.
