A true faith story. October 23, 2013
by Jeremy and Jennifer Williams
A love story about a family and their love for Jesus as well as each other. It's about a winning football coach with a life threatening illness, a mother with two children one of which has a disability, and a story of faith, joy, and strength to surpass the road blocks of their lives and become champions.
This is my first book review. I love to read but with kids running a muck, finding reading time becomes a little difficult. I thought I would give this book review thing a try anyway. I decided on this book being my first because it sounded like something I would read as well as my husband after I was finished. What I didn't expect was my eight year old being enthralled with it as well.
This book really pulled at my heart. I'm a mother with three wonderful and healthy children. My children are my life. I had a very difficult pregnancy with my third. I was told alot of things by alot of doctors. I know a mother's fear as she prays for the health of her unborn child. I also know a mother's joy as those prayers are answered as she holds her completely healthy eight pound baby girl.
In this book Jennifer is told her child would be born with a disability. She relies on GOD and faith to see her through this hard time. The child is born with spina bifida. She finds peace after struggling to accept the truth through prayer. She attributes this peace to GOD.
This family's struggles doesn't end there. The father, Jeremy, is diagnosed with ALS. This woman is now faced with a disabled husband and a handicapped child. Their love for each other and GOD must have been tested and proved.
This is a family that prays without ceasing. Jeremy is a strong religious man who accepts GOD's plan. He then goes on to coach his high school football team to a winning 10-0 season. The spirit of the book is positive and it is a rewarding read. Their story makes you look around at your own life and thank GOD for the blessing he has given to you. There is so much more to this book that everyone should read it.
BookSneeze® has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book but I said what I felt from my read.

Jeremy Williams captured the nation’s imagination by coaching his high school football team to unprecedented heights while combating ALS and caring for a son with spina bifida. This is his family’s inspiring story.
America first met Jeremy and Jennifer Williams when Extreme Makeover: Home Edition rebuilt their Depression-era farmhouse into a beautiful, handicapped-accessible haven. Friends, family, and neighbors from their west Georgia community—and all over the state—came together to support the ailing high school coach who had won their respect and their hearts. It made for compelling television but only told a little slice of the story. Tenacious gives you the rest—a tender love story, a thrilling sports story, and an unforgettable testimony to the power of faith and grit in the face of almost overwhelming adversity. In Tenacious you’ll meet:
- The distraught parents learning their son would be born with spina bifida.
- The young father facing his own devastating diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) with matter-of-fact courage.
- The coach who guided his underdog team to a 10–0 Cinderella season—while struggling to walk, talk, and even breathe.
Packed full of faith, hope, love, and miracles, Tenacious is a story you don’t want to miss.
