—LIZ CURTIS HIGGS, best-selling author of Bad Girls of the Bible
“So, today I’ve been thinking about...things that
bind us. The thought flitted around my mind and then landed for a while, likely because I was wearing a pair of too-tight jeans.”
Women of Faith® speaker and author Lisa Harper relates from experience — life can be uncertain, sometimes even scary. But with a witty twinkle in her eye and a Bible in her hand, she describes what it’s like to find real security in the arms of a Savior who doesn’t just notice us but who moves heaven and earth on our behalf.
Part diary, part devotional, Stumbling Into Grace weaves hilarious and poignant stories from Lisa’s own life with intimate and transformational encounters from the life of Christ. Prayers, reflection questions, and journal prompts help women dig deep into biblical truths to better understand how our Redeemer’s compassion, affection, and constancy make every single moment of life not only more enjoyable but well worth living!

- Review by Rochelle
These are just few of the words that described my life before. Then, with God’s perfect timing, He had finally healed me from the shame that had plagued my heart and mind for most of my life. And I believe I am yet a work in progress. I know He’s still in the process of remolding and rebuilding my life.
As part of the healing proper, I get to review a book from Booksneeze, where you can get a book in exchange of a review. My first book to review was Stumbling Into Grace by Lisa Harper. What I loved the most was the subtitle: “Confessions of a Sometimes Spiritually Clumsy Woman”. From the very title, I have actually felt that this book will be a great help to me. The author's real-life experiences make it genuine.
Undeniably, we are now living in a broken world, and GRACE is not only a concept that we know about, but a truth that we have to cling to so that we can live our lives for Christ. The author relates personal stories that show how grace leads her through the adventures of her Christian journey.
I also love that Lisa’s personal stories were relevant which allows readers to connect on a deeper level. You would feel like you are just listening to the author telling her stories in an informal setting. I believe most of us have had similar fears, doubts, shame, misconceptions as Lisa. Her candidness allows others to see that they do not have to be overtaken by their guilt, shame, past mistakes, etc., but our lives can be transformed into a life full of joy that is ultimately centered on our relationship with Christ.
This would be a great gift for someone who feels that they aren’t good enough for Christ’s love or struggling with the theological truths presented in the Bible. I would definitely recommend this book to the other girls in our church.
I just want to leave everyone with these sweet words from the Lover of Our Soul:
"Whatever you confess won't make Me love you less!"
