I have the "original" Thomas Nelson open bible last copyright in 1997 with 1,912 pages. This open Bible letters are a tad larger than the current open bible. It also has a commentary on the bottom of each page. The current Open Bible does not have one.

I was really hoping Thomas Nelson would reprint with this 1997 copy.

I love the open bible because each verse is in chronological order in each verse. I also have the NKJ Study bible, but I always have a difficult time locating a verse that's in the text. With the open bible you don't have that problem.

I did purchase the new open bible, but I am hoping Thomas Nelson will reprint that 1997 version one day.

I would rate my 1997 version of the Thomas Nelson open bible with a "5 star." I have given the new open bible with a "3 star." (Posted on 3/10/2014)

Just purchased my Open Bible KJV. It is very similar to my 1973 Royal Publishers Cyclopedic Index Bible. I am well pleased with the additions to this Bible . It will become my new preaching Bible. Thank You.

In the original Open Bible;(ca)1975 there was an edition that gave you a soul winners question/response section in order to learn how to evangelize very effectively as Gods words tells us in 1 Peter 3:15. It did not just give pat answers but a multitude of effective scripture response to someones spiritual needs. It also gave soul winning by the numbers, by the colors, by the commands, by the deeds, etc! The former Open Bible really took the sting out of witnessing because listed therein were some of the ways that great evangelist witnessed in their lifetimes. Even though this is not quite the same bible it still contains a number of very good study guides. The maps section (very important) is reliable and has an reasonable concordance. It also contains a introductory section to every book of the bible (66)! It contains notes about the book itself and then about the author and gives good historical footnotes about the reliability of knowing how this book got it's name from history and why we as Protestant Christians believe it to be so! Then a historical timeline when the book was written and what was going on not only in the bible, but if applicable world history also. There are 6 sections titled 1. The Book of...., 2.The Author..., The Time of...., The Christ of...., The keys to...., The Survey of.... and a 5 x 2 inch graph that is in concert with biblical time lines and worldly events. Lastly it gives a concise event for what is in every chapter of that book in order for you to quickly find what you need.I cannot wait for them to more in stock as I am going to order some for my friends, but mostly for people that I win to the Lord! You might say "That's a little bit expensive don't you think"? But I say I didn't preach Jesus Christ crucified to them to cry about corruptible mammon. But to the saving of their souls to know the height and depth and breadth of the living God and his son Jesus whom I serve day and night without ceasing. I do so without any regrets whatsoever! If you want to grow in the Lord God Almighty fear God rightly and his wisdom will enter in and dwell with you, for eternity! (Posted on 4/6/2013)
